Used to seeing The Rock kicking butt on the big screen? Well you’re in for a surprise when you see The Game Plan. I am guessing that he is trying to prove that he can play multiple roles instead of being the big action hero. Anyways, that is besides the point.
This is plainly put, a great family film. From the get go when I saw that The Rock was going to be in a family movie, I knew I had to see it. Too see for myself if he could pull it off, while maintaining his tough male ego.
The Rock and Madison Pettis, the little girl that played his daughter in the movie, had amazing on-screen chemistry. It felt like like she was actually his daughter at times. Don’t be surprised to find yourself wiping a tear or two away during the parts between him and his daughter. Well to say the least, the entire cast was sensational, from the knucklehead football team to the dog, Spike. Seeing Kyra Segdwick star in anything but The Closer was odd to me, but nonetheless she did a great job. Madison Pettis, even though being only nine years old, has an incredible amount of potential. It helps that she is adorable. The comedy is the movie was decent. It had a few slapstick moments, but there were surely times when I felt I was suppose to laugh but didn’t. The Game Plan is a must for anyone who enjoys a great family movie. Bring your kids!
There’s a lot more to this then meets the eye, so don’t just judge it by the trailer or reviews go decide for yourself.
I give it an 8/10.
